Celebrating Generosity in November – Stewardship Drive

Published November 1, 2016 by

Celebrating Our Generosity is the theme of Northern Light United Church’s 2016 Stewardship Campaign. It begins Sunday, November 6 and continues through November 20 when worshippers will be invited to offer their pledges of time and talent. The Campaign is an opportunity for everyone to give a tangible expression of their generous support for the life and work of our church.

John Pugh, June Degnan, and Bob Coghill will offer stewardship moments on the three Sundays, and worship will feature the many ways our church generously supports and contributes to needs and concerns beyond our congregation. Your generosity enables us not only learn, grow, worship, and fellowship together, but to extend our ministry far and wide. We contribute time and money to summer lunches, weekend food bags, Glory Hole dinners, peace and justice education and advocacy, disaster relief, the regional and national witness of our denominations, anti-hunger initiatives, Haven House, Family Promise, Housing First, prison ministry, and more!

Next week you will receive a mailing providing more information about our celebration of generosity. It will include a narrative budget that paints a picture of how the church’s finances translate into ministries of worship, education, community care, social justice advocacy, fellowship, community outreach, and denominational support. It will also detail how you can declare your intention to join the effort this year, namely, by returning a pledge card and a time-and-talent survey. These items will tell church leaders, in specifics, how you will support Northern Light’s ministry outreach in the next year.
Cards and surveys will be collected on Sunday November 20. However, if it is more convenient for you to return the pledge card and time-and-talent survey at a different time, please bring them to a prior at a worship service, or drop off/mail/email to the church office, 400 West 11th Street, Juneau 99801, nluc@ak,net.
Your response is very important. They are the basis upon which concrete plans for next year are made. The greater the response, the more generosity we will have to celebrate!
Thanks for your generous response to this year’s campaign!

5Take from among you an offering to the LORD; let whoever is of a generous heart bring the Lord’s offering… 21And they came, everyone whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and brought the Lord’s offering to be used…
– Exodus 35: 5, 21
