The Juneau Youth Ministry Cooperative teamed up with the Junior Spiritual Empowerment Program for an Interfaith Day of Service on Tuesday, October 18 (Alaska Day). We started the day with welcome, introductions, and icebreakers to get the young people acquainted with each other. Then, we broke into our service teams for the day and came up with team names!
One team went to serve at the AWARE shelter to give some deep cleaning love to the kitchen and living area, as well as help with data entry. Another team served at Helping Hands by sorting and organizing food that will be available at the Rec Center of Switzer Village. The third team helped shop and stock the storage unit for the weekend backpack program that feeds over 500 kids and youth a week.
What an amazing day of coming together across faith traditions to serve our community and help out these service organizations! We look forward to the possibilities of coming together with these new bonds and relationships in the future. Imagine what else we can do together! Special thanks to April Rezendes and the Barnhills for representing our Youth Group well!
