Sunday, March 22 announcements
Lenten Study concludes this Wednesday at 6:30 in the Skuse Room. Using a Diana Butler Bass DVD and study guide, this week’s topic is “Awakening.” What are the connections between new ways of believing, behaving, and belonging that will lead to transformation for us individually and collectively?
Lenten Lunch series concludes this Thursday, noon in our Fellowship Hall. The theme is “Gathering at the Water.” For this last Lenten Luncheon, NLUC is providing bread and cleaning up after. Home-made or good artesian breads from the grocery stores are fine. We need 8-10 loaves. If you can help, please sign up on the Fellowship Hall bulletin board or call Judy Knight at 586-9562.
We will be cooking and serving spaghetti this Tuesday at the Glory Hole. Sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board if you can donate any of these groceries:
3 bunches celery
16 lbs uncooked spaghetti
6 heads of lettuce
Costco bag of Parmesan cheese
Ranch and Italian Dressing, 16 oz
There is also a list for volunteers to sign up to help at the dinner.
We are collecting food items to be distributed to students at Riverbend Elementary. This provides weekend food for those who receive free school breakfast and lunch during the week. We could use: single cup mac & cheese, Chef Boyardee, pop-top soup, dry cereal and saltine crackers. If you can donate money, please label it “Weekend food program.” We pack up over 60 food bags on Wednesdays at 10 AM if anyone would like to help. Thank you.
Our annual One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) special offering will be received next Sunday. OGHS is the cooperative effort of several denominations including the United Methodist and Presbyterian USA churches. OGHS funds provide disaster relief, refugee assistance, and development efforts worldwide.
April’s newsletter deadline is Monday, March 30.
International Students Need Host Families…… Through the State Department sponsored YES program, four High School students from predominantly Muslim countries will arrive this August for the 2015/16 school year. Visit with past host parents tomorrow in the Fellowship Hall, 7:00-8:00PM to hear what a rich and rewarding experience hosting can be. For information, call Judith Maier at 789-9229.
