Youth Corner, January, 2014

Happy New Year, everyone! I can’t believe that it is 2014 ~ I will be 26 this year! The DNA youth group has been very busy extending their hearts beyond the walls of our churches to hungry people in our communities, to children in the activity room at the Douglas Holiday Bazaar, and to the elderly folks at Juneau Pioneers Home by sending Christmas cards. These young people are filled with so much laughter and love! I invite you all to get to know them…it’s so worth it! This “Youth Corner” is short, but I just wanted to ask in […]

Youth Corner, October 2013

Hello and many thanks for the warm welcome to the communities of Juneau and Douglas! I have enjoyed meeting the middle school and high school youth, as well as the Northern Light congregation where I had the opportunity to worship with you all. DNA also met on Sunday, September 22 at Northern Light, where […]

Youth corner, Feburary 2013

Greetings! I am happy to report a fantastic result of the DNA Youth Group’s overnight lock-in and PET Fundraiser: on December 30: the youth raised close to $700 while riding the PET device around the NLUC fellowship hall for TWELVE consecutive hours. If you have pledged but not sent in your total amount, please contact me ASAP. Another update is the successful Alaska UMC Youth Mission Immersion weekend that took place between January […]

In June, NLUC youth took a mission trip to Hoonah to work with the Senior Center and the […]

Youth Corner, January 2013

Greetings and Happy New Year, The DNA (Douglas, Northern Light and Aldersgate) Youth Group had a packed holiday season. We checked out the first installment of Tolkien’s epic, The Hobbit; we sauntered joyfully through the streets of Douglas singing (and sometimes shouting) holiday carols; and we  gathered for an all night lock-in at Northern Light. Lots of fun and lots of fellowship! As we transition out of the Advent season and look toward Epiphany and Easter, we will start to ask deeper questions about what it means to be in relationship to each other and to “others.” What does it […]
